Row 14. repeat Row 11.
Row 15. repeat Row 11.

This is your finishing row. Fasten off & tuck in your ends!

Cherry Pom Pom
Cut an approx. 4" piece of yarn (keep handy!) Wrap yarn around your index, middle, and ring fingers approx. 60x. (You can do more for a fuller pom. I did 60 for mine - as shown in the photo!) Once you have your desired fullness, take your 4" piece of yarn and slip it through your fingers & wound yarn. Tie it in a double knot as tight as you can. Slide yarn off your fingers. Hold yarn by it's knot and cut evenly at the top. Fluff out your pom pom & trim evenly. Loop string through the top of the hat (at your beginning ring) and tie!

  3. When I got to the part for increases to 72 stitches for toddlers, It says
for 12 months+ increase up to 72 dcs.
c2, dc in same st. (counts as 2 dcs) *dc in next 4 sts., then 2 dcs in next* repeat from * around. Join. (72 dcs)

When I do that, it adds up to only 44 stitches, not 72. Would it still work if I did 2dcs in EACH stitch rather then 4 sdc then 2 dc? That's the only way I can make it seem to add up to 72 unless i'm doing something wrong?

  4. Sorry! I should be a bit more clear in the pattern perhaps. You will need to do the increase for each size up to the size you're trying to achieve. First increase to 48, then to 60 in the next row and finally to 72 in the next!

  6. Made this for my friend who is very much a "boy mom" but having her first baby girl in march and our friends and I are determined to make her baby ultra-girly. Anyway, it turned out SO SUPER CUTE!! I added little beads for sprinkles and am also making a cute pair of baby legwarmers with a little scalloped edge that matches the icing. Thanks so much for sharing your pattern!!

  8. Making this today for a one year session tomorrow morning! Changed it slightly but I think it will work out :) Made "rounds" of icing by crocheting only in the back loop, and adding a row to make it a bit longer. And leaving the brown "wrapper" off. I will put baby in a bucket and that will be the cupcake "wrapper". The hat will just be the icing :)

Thanks for the awesome, easy to follow pattern!!

  9. question on the increase round which is round 3 right? I am doing 12+ and you mention to do each round until you get the increase of 72. that is 3 rounds....which is 6 rounds. Do we still do the 4-7 rounds of just DC?

    ReplyDelete
  10. thats not right. LOL I looked at the picture and pink only has the 8 rounds. So is the rounds 3-7the increase rounds? I am so confused. Sorry about that.

  11. Can you clarify how to make a bigger hat? Will the 12 month + have more than 8 rounds? For round 3, do i do the first set of directions, then the next line that says to 48, then a new round up tp 60, and then a third round to get to 72? Then finish arounds 4-7?

Thanks! i do love the pattern and can't wait to complete it!
